My Priorities

What are my top priorities as City Councillor?

After listening to residents of Ward 6, local experts, and grassroots organizations about the top issues facing City of Waterloo, my top priorities are:

Affordable Housing

The city is facing a housing crisis. Many residents struggle to secure safe, affordable places to live that meet their needs – whether they are singles, students, seniors, families, or those who experience chronic homelessness. Without access to stable, affordable housing options for purchase or rent, residents are unable to participate fully in the community and thrive. Everyone deserves an affordable, healthy place to live, so they feel connected to their neighbours, have access to green space, amenities, and services, and belong in the community.

I am committed to supporting affordable housing initiatives and strategies that help make housing attainable for all city residents along the housing spectrum. I’m also interested in innovative ideas to help alleviate the shortage of affordable housing while creating strong, supportive community foundations.

Community Building

Everyone wants to belong, feel visible, and accepted – by family, friends, and in their community. For many people, belonging to the community feels out of reach due to ethnicity, age, ability, gender identity, lack of adequate housing, employment, mental health issues, and more. Residents of Waterloo need to feel that they are visible and have equal access to work, services, green spaces, and opportunities.

I’m passionate about belonging and will be the point of connection between residents of Ward 6 and the City. I will listen, be responsive, and hold space for your concerns. I will bring my commitment to belonging, diversity, and inclusion to Ward 6 and city hall.

Climate Action

Climate change is the global crisis of our time. And we need to continue to move forward with responsible climate action so we can adapt and build resilience within our City and our world. Like many of you, I’m a parent and want the best community possible long-term for my kids and future generations.

I am committed to moving forward with responsible climate action by supporting city initiatives and climate strategies that incorporate green building practices, are environmentally friendly, and ensure a healthy, sustainable city. I will ask questions and listen to experts, advocate for additional green spaces and trees, smart water use, active and public transportation, and renewed infrastructure to reduce our carbon footprint and mitigate the impacts of climate change on our city and residents.

What else would I like you to know about me?

I want you to know that I care – about people, our neighbourhoods, and our city. That I bring integrity, accountability, and a deep sense of community to city council.

I represent Ward 6 with fairness, honesty, and respect. I am consistent, available, and responsive to residents needs and concerns. I engage with the community, ask, listen, and include diverse voices and ideas in council conversations.

I believe that everyone needs someone they can count on. I am that person for Ward 6.

Reach out and let me know what else matters to you, Ward 6!
